As if his musical success weren’t enough, Bowie also made a name for himself on screen, captivating filmmakers with his talent and charisma. While he sometimes appeared simply as himself—a star of the stage—he also crafted intriguing and deeply intense roles. Among them is Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, a film that bridges this series with the one dedicated to Nagisa Ōshima in October.

Une compilation comptant 10 morceaux inédits enregistrés au début de la carrière de David Bowie sera dévoilée en septembre. La compilation est intitulée David Bowie : The Shel Talmy Recordings, en l’honneur de son producteur de l’époque, Shel Talmy, qui a également travaillé avec The Who et The Kinks. Elle comprend 10 titres enregistrés en 1965, quand Bowie faisait ses débuts à Londres sous le nom de Davy (ou Davie) Jones. C’était quatre ans avant son premier grand succès Space Oddity (1969) et sept ans avant la création de son alter ego extravagant Ziggy Stardust.
