François Truffaut 1975-76
August 27th - 28th, 2024
A few months before filming the cult classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind, François Truffaut directed two films that showcased his ability to embrace a wide range of styles and themes as a director. The Story of Adèle H., like Jules and Jim and Two English Girls, belongs to the rich romantic vein of his work, enhanced by Nestor Almendros's cinematography. On the other hand, Small Change redeploys the ensemble film technique seen in Day for Night, enriched by a social commentary rarely seen in Truffaut's work since The 400 Blows.
