The Sommets du cinéma d’animation, in partnership with NFB, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Hayat Najm

Hayat Najm is a Lebanese-born visual artist and animation filmmaker based in Montreal.

Hayat describes her artistic exploration as “visual poetry.” She uses charcoal drawing, her favourite medium, as a means of expressing inner worlds and experiences directly on paper.

During this one-hour talk, the filmmaker will be discussing the creative process behind her first animated short, produced by the National Film Board of Canada. A film about the resilience of women, The Sounds of Things Ablaze (2025) features a female protagonist who relives the horrors of a war that continues to haunt her every day.

This talk will be given in French.
