Getting around Montreal
Montréal-Trudeau International Airport is located about 20 km (12,43 miles) from downtown Montreal. There are several ways to get downtown: bus line 747 - YUL Aéroport Montréal-Trudeau, is the most practical and economical option. A one-way ticket costs $11 and the journey takes about an hour. Bus frequency is usually between 10 and 15 minutes during the day.
We recommend that you purchase your tickets from one of the machines located at the airport, near the arrivals level exits. The bus stop is located near exit #28.
Please note that bus tickets are payable in change only. Banknotes are not accepted.
The 747 circuit is divided into 2 routes:
#1 - Centre-ville (downtown)
This line runs between Montréal-Trudeau airport and the Gare d'autocars de Montréal (Berri-UQAM metro station - orange, green and yellow lines). It serves Lionel-Groulx station, as well as several hotels on René-Lévesque Boulevard.
#2 - Lionel-Groulx metro
This line runs exclusively between Lionel-Groulx metro station (orange and green lines) and Montréal-Trudeau airport.
Train and bus
If you're travelling by train, you will arrive at Gare Centrale de Montréal, located downtown. Bonaventure metro station (orange line) and McGill metro station (green line) are nearby.
If you're coming by bus, you will arrive at the Gare d'autocars de Montréal. Berri-UQAM metro station (orange, green and yellow lines) is nearby. Also, the Cinémathèque québécoise is just a ten-minute walk away!
Montreal's public transit network is operated by the STM. If you wish to take the metro during your stay, you'll only need tickets for Zone A (Greater Montreal Island).
Taxi
A flat rate from Montréal-Trudeau airport to downtown Montreal is offered by all taxicab companies (you must tell the driver you want the flat rate!).
Between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.: $49.45
Between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.: $56.70
The area of downtown Montreal where the special airport rate applies is delimited to the north by Avenue des Pins, Cherrier St. and Sherbooke St., to the west by Avenue Atwater, to the east by Avenue Papineau and to the south by the St. Lawrence River.
To take a cab at Montréal-Trudeau airport, go to the arrivals level, exit #23, where a dispatcher will assist you. Avoid taking cabs outside this area.

Visitor visa and eTA
Depending on your country of origin, you may need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. Obtaining a visa can be a lengthy process. We therefore advise you to initiate the process as soon as possible in order to obtain all the necessary documents in time for your visit.

Currency
The Canadian dollar is the official currency of Canada. Its code is CAD and its symbol is $ or C$.
Tips
In Canada, prices generally exclude taxes (in Quebec, GST 5% and QST 9.975%) and tip. Restaurant employees are paid less than minimum wage per hour, as they are considered “tipped employees”. Although not mandatory, it is recommended to leave between 15% and 20% of the pre-tax amount in restaurants and bars, and 15% for cab fares.
Electricity in Canada
In Canada, plugs and sockets type A and type B are used. Mains voltage is 120 V at 60 Hz. Don't forget your adapter/converter!
