Dear Diary
To mark the publication of its new issue devoted to the cinema of the 1990s, 24 images magazine presents Nanni Moretti's Journal intime and Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure. Two films that each testify in their own way, from the personal essay to the psychological horror, to the evolution of auteur cinema and the desire for introspection of this decade.
Nanni Moretti takes a biting look at Italian life through three antological vignettes presented as chapters of an open diary.
Nanni Moretti
Nanni Moretti, born August 19, 1953 in Brunico, is an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor. He is also a producer, distributor and cinema director through his companies Sacher Film, Sacher Distribuzione and his cinema Nuovo Sacher. Nanni Moretti is a leading figure in European cinema, whose work develops a personal form of autofiction, alternating between drama, satire and activism. He acts in all his films. His feature films seek to reconcile the neorealist tradition with the codes of Italian comedy and form a vast and subjective chronicle of the politicized Italy of the post-May '68 and early 21st century. The filmmaker won the Palme d'Or at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival for The Son's Room.
