The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Synopsis

Yusuke Kafuku, a stage actor and director is happily married to Oto, a screenwriter. However, Oto suddenly dies after leaving behind a secret. 2 years later, Kafuku, still unable to fully cope with the loss of his wife, receives an offer to direct a play at a theatre festival and drives to Hiroshima with his car. There, he meets Misaki, a reticent woman assigned to become his chauffeur, As they spend time together, Kafuku confronts the mystery of his wife that quietly haunts him.

Ryūsuke Hamaguchi

Ryūsuke Hamaguchi is a Japanese filmmaker and screenwriter. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he worked in the commercial film industry for a few years before entering the graduate program in film at Tokyo University of the Arts. From 2011 to 2013, he co-directed a documentary trilogy with Kō Sakai, giving voice to survivors and witnesses of the tsunami that followed the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake. His film Senses, also known as Happy Hour, with a runtime of 5 hours and 17 minutes, shot in Kobe with non-professional actors, has garnered numerous international awards. In 2018, Asako I & II, based on a novel by Tomoka Shibasaki, entered the Cannes Film Festival competition. His film Drive My Car was also in competition in 2021 and won the award for Best Screenplay.
