Howard Deutch
Howard Deutch is an American film and television director who worked with filmmaker John Hughes, directing two of Hughes's best-known screenplays, Pretty in Pink (1986) and Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). He began his career in the advertising department of United Artists Records, where his father was company president. He directed music videos for performers such as Billy Idol and Billy Joel. After a third film penned by Hughes, The Great Outdoors (1988), he directed three sequels to films he did not direct. In 2000, he made the sport comedy film starring Keanu Reaves, The Replacements. Since 2011, he has primarily directed television productions, including multiple episodes of Getting On and True Blood, as well as some episodes of American Horror Story and Young Sheldon.
