Jean-Jacques Beineix (1946-2022)
Although Jean-Jacques Beineix continued to direct and produce films thereafter (mostly documentaries), his work remains above all anchored in the 1980s. The French filmmaker knew how to embody with panache this decade during which he signs four of his six fiction feature films, including his greatest successes. Its stylistic flamboyance, which echoes the culture of the music video of the time, had then stimulated the annoyance of certain critics as well as a true generational cult. His first feature film, Diva (which imposed actor Richard Bohringer), and his most famous film, 37°2 le matin (which revealed the very young Béatrice Dalle) are perfectly suited to pay tribute to this unclassifiable filmmaker, as he just passed away on January 13, 2022.
