2001: A Space Odyssey
As summer begins, we invite you to rediscover the full body of work of the legendary Stanley Kubrick on the big screen. From war films to period pieces, from science fiction to horror, from dystopian fiction to satire, the filmmaker transcended genres, delivered one masterpiece after another, and never ceased to innovate. In dialogue with his work, we present two documentaries that inspired him for 2001 and Full Metal Jacket respectively: Universe by Canadian filmmakers Roman Kroitor and Colin Low; and Basic Training by Frederick Wiseman, whose memory we honor following his recent passing.

Stanley Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick was an American filmmaker, photographer, screenwriter, producer, and editor. A prominent figure of the New Hollywood era, he is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers. His films spanned a number of genres and gained recognition for their attention to detail, innovative cinematography, extensive set design, and dark humor. A perfectionist who assumed direct control over most aspects of his filmmaking, Kubrick cultivated expertise in writing, editing, color grading, promotion, and exhibition. He was famous for the painstaking care taken in researching his films and staging scenes. Many of his films broke new cinematic ground and are now considered landmarks.
