Synopsis

Julien Duvivier

Julien Duvivier is a French director. Among his most original films are Pépé le Moko, Panique and Voici le temps des assassins and Don Camillo. In 1919 he made his first film, Haceldama ou le prix du sang. In the 1920s, several of his films deal with religious subjects, Credo ou la Tragédie de Lourdes, L'Abbé Constantin and La Vie miraculeuse de Thérèse Martin. In 1934, Maria Chapdelaine marked his first collaboration with Jean Gabin. Then, with La Bandera, in 1935, he enlisted the talents of dialogue writer Charles Spaak. During the Second World War, Julien Duvivier left again to work in the United States to direct Lydia, Six Destins, Obsessions, and then L'Imposteur. In 1951, he directed Under the Sky of Paris, a film of great originality. The same year 1951, Duvivier made the first part of Don Camillo.
