Misericordia
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Jérémie returns to his hometown for the funeral of his former boss, the village baker. He decides to stay for a few days with Martine, the man’s widow. A mysterious disappearance, a threatening neighbor and a priest with strange intentions make Jérémie’s short stay in the village take an unexpected turn.

Alain Guiraudie
Alain Guiraudie is a French director, screenwriter and writer. In 1990, he directed his first short film, Les héros sont immortels, produced by the GREC. His film Ce vieux rêve qui bouge, won the Prix Jean Vigo and was presented at the Directors' Fortnight in 2001. That year, Jean-Luc Godard described it as "the Cannes Film Festival's best film". Alain Guiraudie then moved on to feature films with Pas de repos pour les braves, Voici venu le temps, Le roi de l'évasion and L'inconnu du lac, which opened his career to a wider audience. In 2016, his film Rester vertical was officially selected at the Cannes Film Festival. His latest film, Miséricorde, was once again presented at the festival, this time, in the Cannes Première section.
