Félicité Landrivon : independant poster-maker
Please note that the exhibition will be temporarily closed from November 15 to December 1.
At the cinema, film screenings come one after another: two or three per day, or even more. However, the experience of each screening is unique, defined by the vibe, the people around us, the little coughs in the room and the feeling of immersion that inhabits us beyond the viewing.
Félicité Landrivon's posters document these ephemeral events: they are not film posters, but rather screening posters. Her collaboration with the cinephile collective Météorites led her to produce more than 70 posters, which were pasted up in the streets of Lyon to promote just as many traveling screenings, from 2016 to 2021. Their sale at a modest price supported the economy of this independent project.
For this first exhibition on Canadian soil, we have selected some creations that represent the breadth of Félicité's graphic palette. The designer freely recreates the atmosphere of each film using photograms or found images. Here and there, little instructions promise great things: a homemade borscht will be served before one show, and we are told that another will “perhaps” be held in the presence of the director. Whether you attended the screening or not, the pleasure of this collective experience is palpable.

Félicité Landrivon
After initially studying literature and English, French visual artist Félicité Landrivon completed a bachelor's degree in visual and graphic communication in Brussels, which she rounded up with a master's degree in aesthetic philosophy in Lyon. Drawing her influences from amateurism, “counter-culture” and popular forms of expression, she favors the poster as a daily training ground to better circumvent the academic routes of graphic design. Her experiments have led her to collaborate with numerous cultural venues, publishers, associations, record companies and music groups, on publishing projects (magazines, books, records) as well as visual identity and illustration. Previously a programmer and organizer of concerts in Lyon, in 2020 she launched Ventoline, a musical fanzine written and illustrated by women, for which she is responsible for design, coordination, layout and distribution.
